Isle Of Wight Businesses Set For Tourism Awards Glory

Businesses on the Isle of Wight are being recognised for their excellence at an awards ceremony later this year.

The Tourism South East Beautiful South Awards celebrate the best of the best in the tourism industry in the region.

This year, four Island businesses have been shortlisted to win either gold, silver or bronze at the ceremony held in Brighton in December.

The Royal Hotel in Ventnor has been shortlisted in two categories, Restaurant of the Year and Large Hotel of the Year, Art Deco House at Shanklin for Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year and Away Resorts Whitecliff Bay at Bembridge for Holiday Park of the Year.

Meanwhile Visit Isle of Wight’s Walking Festival, which celebrates it’s 25th anniversary in 2024, has been shortlisted for Event of the Year.

Laurence and Sharon Boyse-Smith are the owners of the Art Deco House in Shanklin:

"It’s a real honour for the Art Deco HouseUK to be selected as a finalist by Beautiful South Awards as one of the leading self catering properties in South England.

"Our iconic 7 bedroom luxury house stands proud on the cliff between Shanklin and Sandown, and we stand proud to be part of the wonderful Isle of Wight tourist industry, bringing guests to our lovely Island.

"Wish us luck in the final please so we can bring honours back to the IoW and bring more guests in 2024!"

The Isle of Wight Walking Festival is held in spring and autumn, with the aim of attracting visitors to experience the beauty of the Island outside of the traditional main summer holiday season.

Amy Summers, Sustainable Travel, Trade and Exhibitions manager at Visit Isle of Wight said:

"We are thrilled to be shortlisted in the Tourism South East Beautiful South Awards.

"The two festivals can only happen with the dedication and support of the volunteer walk leaders and the small team at Visit Isle of Wight, and to be shortlisted in the category of Event of the Year is a testament to them."
