Isle Of Wight College Celebrates Exceptional GCSE Re-Sit Achievements

The Isle of Wight College has announced positive results from its November 2024 GCSE re-sits, a testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff.

The focus was to help students increase their grades from 3 to 4 or higher, providing them with the essential foundations in English and maths needed for their future careers.

Among notable achievers, Tyrese Bryan, a public service student, successfully passed his English GCSE.

He is eagerly looking forward to progressing to Level 3 Public Services, with aspirations of joining the police force.

Katie Bellamy, Teaching and Learning Manager for Maths, and Gary Clough, Teaching and Learning Manager for English, said:

"I'm so proud of all the students this year; they've really focused, and our flexible and bespoke approach to learning seems to have really paid off."

Ros Parker, OBE, expressed her immense pride in the students, saying:

"The success of the November GCSE re-sits showcases the resilience and hard work of our students.

"It's heartening to see their dedication to academic excellence, which not only paves the way for further education but empowers them to pursue their career goals with confidence."

The next IW College open day is on Saturday, February 1, from 10am to 2pm, at both the Newport and CECAMM (Whippingham) campuses.
