New CEO To Lead Isle Of Wight's Blue Lamp Trust

Home and Road safety charity, the Blue Lamp Trust welcomes a new CEO at the end of September.

Lisa Gagliani MBE is an experienced business and charity leader, with a background in health, education and commerce, who joins from Isle of Wight charity Independent Arts.

Announcing the appointment, having led the recruitment process, Chair of Trustees Graeme Hobbs said:

“We’re delighted to appoint Lisa, who will bring a fresh outlook to our charity and social enterprise at an exciting period of change.

"Together with trustees, she will develop the business case strategically and help to bring our ambitions to the fore.”

Blue Lamp Trust works collaboratively with the emergency services to support the vulnerable and victims of crime to feel safe in their homes.

Employing a team of Safety Technicians who visit to deliver practical assistance in the form of locks, alarms and fire safety checks – the charity mainly helps older people, carers and victims of domestic abuse.

The charity also helps victims of cyber crime to protect themselves from further attack via a team of digital volunteers.

The Blue Lamp Trust trading arm provides taxi assessments for new drivers nationwide and delivers a suite of training to professional drivers, helping to keep everyone safer on the roads.

“I’m ready for the challenge. There’s lots of incredibly good work being done by the Blue Lamp Trust, which is vital to the wellbeing of the most vulnerable in our society.

"I’ll be supporting the team to ensure we support more people when they need it and to develop a sustainable strategy and outreach plans for the organisation.

"This will take time, but I’m already impressed with the team and together with the trustees, who have managed the charity in the interim, we’ll drive through any changes needed.

“Since accepting the role, I’ve discovered several people I know who have been helped and supported in their hour of need by the Blue Lamp Trust.

"This isn’t always something people feel comfortable speaking about openly, to do so is to admit vulnerability of course.”

Lisa lives on the Isle of Wight and has already helped recruit a new safety technician for the Island, following the retirement of John Eldridge.

Lois Edwards joins from Age UK IW, where she managed their digital safety service, and she also set up the Island’s men in sheds scheme.
