Orchard House Care Home Celebrates World Mental Health Day With Fun-Filled Morning

Orchard House Care Home marked World Mental Health Day today (Thursday) with a joyful morning coffee gathering, bringing residents and staff together for a light-hearted celebration of mental well-being.

The event featured playful interactions with some ‘silly’ special guests, including a panda, pig and puppy, creating an atmosphere full of laughter and smiles.

The aim of the celebration was to emphasise the importance of mental health awareness, not only on World Mental Health Day but every subsequent day.

Orchard House Care Home staff, alongside residents, enjoyed the light-hearted spirit of the event, reminding everyone that even small acts of joy can make a big difference to mental wellness.

In addition to the fun, the home’s nurse provided a valuable service by offering blood pressure checks to residents and staff who requested them.

As part of the day’s focus on holistic well-being, the nurse also issued “happiness prescriptions” to those she treated, promoting mental health as an essential aspect of overall health.

Katie Schlepp , Head of Lifestyle at Orchard House Care Home, said:

“We believe mental health deserves attention every day, and we are committed to fostering a community of care and happiness at Orchard House.

"Today’s event was a great example of how laughter and connection can have a positive impact.”

"World Mental Health Day serves as a reminder to care for each other and prioritise mental health in all communities."
