Pan Together's Community Café Receives Five-Star Food Hygiene Rating

Multi-award-winning Island charity, Pan Together, has received a five-star hygiene rating for its cafe.

The service exists to support and provide a community hub for the residents of East Newport, which includes the Isle of Wight's most disadvantaged area.

A staggering 94% of places in England are more affluent than Pan.

The charity's community support and anti-poverty services are, sadly, increasingly essential as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite so hard for so many local residents.

At the heart of the centre, however, is the warm and welcoming community cafe - which has just been awarded Five Stars in its latest food hygiene inspection, for the second time in a row.

The cafe is open to everyone each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 2.30pm.

It offers freshly-prepared, wholesome food at affordable prices whilst also acting as a social hub.

Rachel Thomson, Pan Together's Community Centre Manager, said:

"Under the leadership of our fantastic cafe supervisor, Wendy Parsons, our community cafe has gone from strength to strength.

"Wendy works with one other paid member of part-time staff and is supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.

"They all work so very hard and deserve huge congratulations on this tremendous achievement.

"We urge everyone to come along to our community cafe on Furrlongs in Newport to sample our awesome breakfasts, delicious lunches, light bites, tasty homemade cakes, drinks and chats.

"We know you won't be disappointed."
