Royal Rumble: Christ The King College Celebrates Successful A Level Results Day

Huge congratulations to the Sixth Form students at Christ the King College on their A Level results this year.

It has been widely publicised that achieving A Levels at a high standard would be even more challenging this year than for the preceding three years, due to the impact of the pandemic.

Despite this, Christ the King College students achieved an average grade of C+ in their A Level programmes this year, an improvement on our exceptional 2019 results.

Students on BTEC programmes also excelled, achieving an average grade of Distinction+ which is a phenomenal success for all these young people.

The College feels extremely proud that two of their Year 13 students are moving on to study Medicine this year; and the BTEC Health & Social Care students have exceeded expectations once again.

Health Care and Medicine continue to be growth areas at the College and we are looking forward to becoming the new Hub School for the NHS 350 programme in the new academic year.

Despite national trends, a significant number of students achieved high grades (15% of all grades were A/A*’s). Our overall pass rate is an impressive 99%.

Students performed very well in the broad range of subjects we offer, doing particularly well in Geography, Computer Science, Drama, Maths & Business Studies.

Students also performed exceptionally well in the Extended Project Qualification, which is completed in addition to 3 A levels.

The Head of Sixth Form, Hayley Conway-Hughes, said:

“This is a day of celebration for a cohort of young people who have never before had the opportunity to take external examination assessments.

"74% of university applicants have secured a place at one of their preferred universities and 81% are currently holding offers from a preferred university.

"We feel so very proud of them and everything they have achieved in their time with us. It is hard to say goodbye.”

Headteacher, Andrew Montrose, added:

"The whole community of Christ the King is incredibly proud of our students and what they have achieved.

"Collectively and individually, they have demonstrated resilience and character during some very challenging times post-COVID. Our Sixth Form provision is second-to-none.

"Good luck to all of our students; we look forward to seeing them again as successful alumni of Christ the King College."
