Sandown Carnival has been forced to postpone the town’s popular seafront fireworks display scheduled for this Wednesday (January 1) at 6pm.
High winds forecast through the day will make it unsafe for the fireworks contractor to set up the display from the end of the pier.

Sandown Carnival chair Paul Coueslant explained:
"We’ve been keeping a close eye on the weather forecast and felt we had no alternative but to put safety first. It’s extremely disappointing and we hope to have news about the rearranged event as soon as possible."
