Satisfy Your Ice-Cream Craving And Help Support Battle Against Development Language Disorder

Award-winning ice cream parlour, Crave has joined forces with the Ventnor-based St Catherine’s School and College to raise awareness of Development Language Disorder (DLD) day tomorrow (Friday 18 October).

Crave ice cream is a popular treat among the students, and many of the staff at St Catherine’s, which supports students with speech, language and communication needs.

Owners Chris and Tracy Holbrook have created a special purple and yellow ice cream for the occasion (the colours of DLD), which customers at Crave can buy to show their support for DLD.

The new ice cream is white chocolate and blueberry flavour.

Sarah Thompson, Principal, at St Catherine’s said:

“It’s great to have Crave come on board to help us raise awareness of DLD.

"Despite an average of two children in every class being affected by DLD, it is still known as a “hidden” condition as it is often mistaken for other things such as poor attention or challenging behaviour, which is why it is so important to have awareness days like this.”

St Catherine’s specialises in supporting children and young people aged 9 to 25 who have speech, language and communication needs through its day and residential school and college, along with its residential Post 19 provision.

One of the conditions that affects students at St Catherine’s is DLD.
