Second Annual Cowes Fringe Underway This Week With Star-Spangled Line-Up

The second annual Cowes Fringe will take place from this Thursday (May 23).

An eclectic line-up includes West End star Kerry Ellis, superstar DJ Gordon Mac, flamenco guitarist Jonjan and magician Neil Kelso.

The festival runs for four days, with tickets available to purchase online.

Kerry Ellis, fast becoming recognised as the leading lady of West End musicals from her starring roles in London and on Broadway, spoke to Isle of Wight radio.

She said:

"I love the Isle of Wight, you always get that essence of somewhere unique and different — a real holiday feel.

"I got into the industry at a young age and had dreams, my advice for any young people wanting to get into musical theatre is to put every bit of your passion into it — when doors open it outweighs every challenge that comes along.

"The gig will give me a chance to be interactive with the audience and the intimacy will make it a special evening."

Kerry has also achieved chart-topping success as a recording artist signed to Universal Decca with her debut album Anthems.

She recently released new album 'Feels Like Home', along with new solo podcast “Keep Calm and Kerry on”.

She'll be performing at Commodores House from 9pm on Sunday (May 26) .

Gordon Mac’s predominant claim to fame is the larger-than-life Kiss FM brand, which he founded in 1985.

The station — initially a pirate frequency — consolidated almost every street sound and club night into its programming, giving early breaks to some of the UK’s most important tastemakers.

Gordon told Isle of Wight Radio:

"When I was young I used to come over to the Island a lot, the last time was for a mini festival and I love it over there.

"I started DJ'ing from a young age after my cousin took me to a disco when I was about 8 years-old in the late 1960s and I thought it was amazing!

"For the gig in Cowes I'm going to do a full 360! A bit of soul, RnB, disco and jungle. It will be a fun and spontaneous three hours." 

Gordon will be live in Cowes at Mark's Shed on Saturday (25 May) from 9pm.
