An Islander renowned for his charitable exploits is celebrating this festive season, following a kind donation from a local employment enterprise.
Newport based charity, Seetec, has given Christopher Hayton £250, which will be donated to the Samaritans - which he has been taking a novel approach to raising funds for.
Christopher has made more than 140 garden troughs for various Island businesses over the course of 2024.
This includes one which he presented to Colin, a member of the Isle of Wight Radio team:

Christopher explained:
"A family member took their life 15 years ago and a close friend did the same last year.
"It inspired me to raise awareness of suicide across the Isle of Wight.
"The Samaritans give people someone to listen to, it's important they know they have someone to talk to."
Seetec's kind donation will add to the money raised on Christopher's Just Giving page, in addition to other donations made offline.
Leon Milner, employment adviser at Seetec, said;
“Chris’s journey with us has been truly inspiring. His resilience, creativity, and sense of humour makes a positive impact on everyone around him.
"It’s been a privilege to supporting Chris, and we look forward to seeing all the wonderful things he continues to achieve.”
Business manager, Emma Forder, added:
“We’re proud to be supporting Chris with his fundraising quest and delighted to have received this wonderful plant holder from him.
"As a token of our appreciation for the gift, we are donating £250 to Chris’ chosen charity, Samaritans.”
All of Christopher's plant holders have been created using recycled materials.
