St Helens Celebrates 50 Year Anniversary

Members and affiliates of St Helens Primary School have been celebrating a momentous landmark this month.

The school celebrated 50 years on its current site at Broomlands Close on March 15 and held a celebration event at the school the following day.

The day included live entertainment, photos, memorabilia and a slideshow with music from 1974.

A spokesperson for St Helens Primary School said:

"Our four classes also created artwork from children's cartoons of the era."

Entertainment was provided by Sean Goodfield, a parent and Island-wide performer.

Music came from Matt Searle who is one of the co-chairs of the governing body.

The school's PTA, known as FOSH (Friends of St Helens), provided cakes and drinks for the visitors and £158.11 was raised from donations for the refreshments.

Around 150 people walked through the door on the day, including pupils past and present - all the way back to 1974, as well as teaching and non-teaching staff.
