Forget this year’s Olympic Games, all eyes will be on the Island this summer as Wessex Cancer Support brings its brand-new welly wanging and tomato tossing championships to these shores.
The event will take place at the Wight County Showground between 11am and 4pm on Saturday August 31.
The championships will see participants ‘wang’ their welly or ‘toss’ their tomato as far as possible to try and win the trophy.
With categories for under 14 girls, under 14 boys, men, women and over 70s, and with plenty of entertainment planned, this is the perfect family afternoon out.
Wellies and tomatoes will be supplied, and there will be a practise area available to perfect your throw.
All of the money raised will support Islanders affected by cancer.
Registration costs £6 per category.
Spectator tickets cost £4 and under 5s go free.
Further information about the event and tickets can be found online.
