Woodfired Sauna Opens To Public At Compton Bay With Charitable Vision

A traditional Lithuanian woodfired sauna has opened to the public this week at Compton Bay, as part of islanders Rob and Josie De Banks’ wellness brand offering 'Slow Motion'.

Perched at the top of the headland owned by the National Trust, the mobile structure — which has capacity for six people — allows users to experience stunning vistas across the bay through a panoramic mirrored window, while enjoying the benefits ‘sweat bathing’ has to offer.

Camp Bestival founder, DJ and wellness guru, Rob da Bank, commented:

"Not only are saunas amazing for your mental and physical health, but they are a great reason to turn off, tune out and drop in, being offline and connecting with friends and people in real life, while recharging the batteries.

“Following last year’s success at Freshwater Bay, we are thrilled to be able to continue to offer an Island sauna for the community and visitors to enjoy.”

Celebrated for its numerous health benefits, including relaxation, improved circulation, lower blood pressure, enhanced immune function, reduced joint pain and boosted mood, the popularity of the sauna has surged in the UK over recent years.

With mental health in mind, Rob and Josie will be looking to work with local charities and community-based initiatives that help and support people that would benefit from the sauna.

The Slow Motion sauna at Compton Bay is open Thursday to Sundays, between 9am to 5pm.
