Young Musicians Hitting All The Right Notes

A total of 80 young musicians from Chiltern Music Academy in Buckinghamshire will visit the Isle of Wight for a series of free performances this month.

The young musicians who form an orchestra, concert band, jazz band and two choirs will perform four concerts from May 25-27 during their stay on the Island.

Dates and times of performances

Saturday 25 May – 7.30pm – St Saviour’s on the Cliff, Shanklin
Sunday 26 May – 3pm – Esplanade, Ventnor
Sunday 26 May – 6.30pm – St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor
Monday 27 May – throughout the afternoon at IW Steam Railway, Havenstreet

Chiltern Music Academy, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, is an independent centre of vibrant community music making, formed by a group of parents and music professionals passionate about the development of musicianship.

This will be the fourth time that Chiltern Music Academy has visited the Island.

The group is staying at the Urban Saints Residential Centre at Westbrook near Ryde.

Chiltern Music Academy’s Principal, Elen Môn Wayne, says:

“We are absolutely delighted and excited to be returning to the Isle of Wight in our tenth anniversary year and look forward to sharing the joy of music with audiences in Shanklin, Ventnor and Havenstreet.”

Isle of Wight Steam Railway general manager Marc Morgan Huws added:

“We are always looking to put on extra events for our visitors to enjoy and we are delighted to welcome Chiltern Music Academy who we know will put on a fantastic performance.”
