Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn fight 'done' for April in London, says Turki Alalshikh

Chris Eubank Jr will fight Conor Benn in London, it has been confirmed.

Turki Alalshikh, chair of the General Entertainment Authority which has staged a sequence of high-profile events under the Riyadh Season banner, said Eubank vs Benn was "done in April, London".

Eubank Jr and Benn - the sons of great rivals Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn - were originally meant to face each other in October 2022, only for the latter to fail two drug tests.

Benn's licence was removed by the British Boxing Board of Control but the suspensions were lifted last November after the National Anti-Doping Panel stated it was "not comfortably satisfied" the 28-year-old had committed a doping offence.

Since the cancelled fight over two years ago, Eubank Jr lost to Liam Smith but won the rematch in 2023 and only fought once in 2024, with a stoppage victory over Kamil Szeremeta.

Benn spent 525 days out of the ring before boxing in America, beating Mexican Rodolfo Orozco in September 2023 in Florida, then Peter Dobson in Las Vegas last February.

He took both of those wins by unanimous decision.

With the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium reportedly the venue for the fight, promoter Ben Shalom previously told Sky Sports: "It's one of the biggest fights out there for British boxing alongside Fury vs Joshua. I believe it sells out any stadium in the country."

The weight the pair would fight at had been a sticking point in talks to make the bout, with Benn boxing at welterweight and Eubank operating two divisions higher at middleweight.

Eubank had been determined to have this rescheduled fight in his division, 160lbs, rather than at a catchweight.

Only on Tuesday Eubank Jr was publicly criticising Benn and his promoter Eddie Hearn for "trying to enforce a rehydration restriction on me to make the fight".

Benn responded: "10lbs rehydration because I'm already fighting a middleweight but you want to get in the ring as a light-heavyweight? Making excuses already for when I staple you to the floor."

The negotiations to make the fight have been protracted, with Benn previously telling Sky Sports: "In my opinion, it's one of the biggest British domestic fights in history.

"I don't think two fathers and two sons have ever fought [like this]. It's about history. It's about legacy."
