Isle of Wight-born, Carla Ward, has won the Barclays Women’s Super League Manager of the Month for Aston Villa.
The Villa boss been recognised for the team’s flying start to the 2022/23 season.
A dramatic 4-3 win over Manchester City, followed by a 2-0 victory against Leicester City and a cup penalty shoot-out win against Manchester United, saw Ward nominated.
The 38 year old was born on the Island, before moving to Torquay. He playing career included spells at Bristol Rovers, Leeds United and Sheffield United.
Ward joined Villa as manager in May 2021.
Meanwhile, England Lionesses World Cup star - and Villa forward - Rachel Daly (pictured below), has scooped the Player of the Month.
Villa will aim to make it three wins from three in the WSL when they host West Ham at Walsall’s Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday (15).
