In July 2023 there was a joining of souls, Pirate and Mermaid, it took place on a dark and stormy day witnessed by ten-score and more scallywags. It was so much fun that everyone demanded the day be celebrated every year, and that Cowes should be taken over from the sailors for a day of mischief and merriment. The newly married Pirate (One-Eyed Dyl) and his Mermaid pledged an oath to their friends that they would make this happen, somehow.
So here we are! Dear crew.
Plans are already afoot for infiltration of this small and quiet town (!) as many of the original crew have already booked their cabins. The aim now is to bring footfall to the Highstreet and get the town ‘shivering its timbers’ in a different way to the norm.
Timings:
• Highstreet ‘hornswoggle’ - spend your gold during standard Highstreet trading times
• Walking the Plank (fun and games/bring your picnic/guitar/fishing rods/paddleboards etc.) on The Green from 1.00pm – 4.00pm
• Inn-filtration, shake your ‘booty’ & ‘grog’ hunt - from opening time until the last Seadog abandons ship. The OHMZ will be performing from 9pm in The Union Inn (entry FREE)
Let’s get this ‘parley’ started!
Please note: We are not doing this for any reward, we don’t have a budget (this year) to pay anyone for doing anything, so it is with goodwill only that we invite you to take part, for free, we merely want to bring some fun and fortune to our amazing town.
