With the strains of Glenn Miller and Vera Lynn filling the air, a large crowd enjoyed the sunshine at the "Flying Forties" weekend at Sandown Airport.
The event — which took place on June 25 and 26 — presented jointly by Wight Aviation Museum (WAM) and Vectis 40s Vintage, included a retrospective nod to military vehicles, 1940s displays, with costumed re-enactors and live music from the era.
Helen Blake, chair person of WAM, enthused:
"A lot of hard work from the WAM Team and all the forties vintage participants resulted in a fabulous weekend in the sun for nearly a thousand visitors over the two days."
The Wight Aviation Museum, based in Sandown, is open to visitors on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays from 10am to 3pm.
